Why We Get Upset at Work and What We Can Do About It

Have you ever felt really, really mad at someone you work with? Maybe they're not doing their job the way you want them to, and you just want them to go away. You might even dream about telling them off or making them leave. But what if the answer to this problem isn't just about them? What if it's also about us?

Sometimes when we have a problem with someone at work, we like to blame them for everything. We think they're the problem, and that just makes us more upset. But what if we looked at ourselves and our own actions instead? This might help us calm down and fix the problem.

Here are some things to think about when you're upset at work:

**1. Look at What Happened**

When something at work makes you mad, try to figure out why. Is there something else going on in your life that's making you upset? Are you tired or hungry? Sometimes, things that have nothing to do with the person at work can make us feel mad.

**2. Accept Your Feelings**

It's okay to feel upset, but it's not helpful to stay upset. Instead of ignoring your feelings, try to understand them. Tell yourself that what you're feeling is normal, but it's not helping you. This can help you start to feel better.

**3. Don't Make Up Stories**

Sometimes, we make up stories in our heads about why someone did something. We think they did it to hurt us or because they're mean. But that's not always true. Try to think about why the person might have done what they did. Maybe they had a good reason.

**4. Think About Your Fears**

Sometimes, we get mad because we're afraid. We might be worried that we're not doing a good job, or that people don't like us. When we feel confident and secure, little things don't bother us as much. But when we're not feeling good about ourselves, even small things can make us really mad.

**5. Talk to the Person**

If you've thought about why you're upset and you know it's not just because of you, try talking to the person. But be nice when you talk to them. Instead of saying, "You made me so mad!" say, "I didn't like it when this happened. Can we work together to fix it?"

**6. Try Forgiving**

Sometimes, forgiving someone can help us feel better. It means we let go of our anger and move on. We don't have to forget what happened, but we don't let it make us mad anymore.

So, the next time someone at work makes you really mad, remember these steps. They can help you feel better and maybe even make things better with your coworker.
